Job Description:
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Director, Kidney Disease, to join the North America HEOR team to lead a U.S. and Canada HEOR strategy for Kidney focused clinical programs including Povetacicept for IgAN and Inaxaplin for AMKD. This role will work in a highly cross-functional team environment, interfacing with Market Access, Marketing, Health Policy, Patient Advocacy, State Government Affairs, and Medical Affairs, integrating key HEOR tactics into a broader commercialization strategy with the goal of optimizing the product value story to secure market access. The North America HEOR Director, Kidney Disease, in partnership with Market Access Strategy, will lead key launch value deliverables including pre-approval information exchange (PIE) and payer value proposition (PVP) development. This role will lead other key HEOR tactics including but not limited to pharmacoeconomic models, dossiers, reactive HEOR decks, Medicaid testimonies, ICER support, U.S. Collaborative Research and Canadian HTA submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent HEOR at U.S. and Canadian cross-functional teams as NA HEOR Kidney Lead
  • Develop and execute on a cross-functionally aligned HEOR plan for Povetacicept (IgAN) and Inaxaplin (AMKD)
  • Identify and execute innovative HEOR solutions that are necessary to support access and reimbursement in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Develop external customer-facing value demonstration tools that meet regulatory standards and train and certify appropriate field teams (e.g., Field HEOR, Payer Account Team) for effective delivery
  • Work closely with Global HEOR team to inform evidence generation and publication plans from the U.S. and Canadian perspective and to ensure timely translation of HEOR studies for external value communication to customers
  • Occasionally engage directly with external customers (e.g., Payer Accounts, Health Systems, Policymakers) to discuss HEOR data and represent Vertex as needed to achieve business objectives
  • Lead and execute U.S. Collaborative Research with external customer entities (e.g., Payers, Health systems) in a compliant manner

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, PharmD, MPH, MS) in a scientific discipline.
  • 10 years professional experience, minimum 7 years of HEOR experience.
  • U.S. market and launch experience required.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in interpreting and applying the 2018 FDA Payor / HCEI Guidance.
  • Robust understanding of the HTA process and methodology.
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications demonstrating experience in COAs, observational research, and/or health economic modeling.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to effectively present to both internal and external audiences.
  • Results oriented and excellent analytic and project management skills.
  • A strong sense of urgency and commitment to patients.

Pay Range:

$204,200 - $306,300

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
