The Director of Project Management, Global Scientific Affairs (SA), is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the full lifecycle of internal and external R&D projects within the organization. This individual will work closely with the Chief Scientific Officer to ensure that all projects are executed efficiently, meet their objectives, and align with the company's strategic goals.

Note: This position is open to fully-remote candidates in the U.S., with preference to candidates located in the Grand Rapids, Michigan or Minneapolis-St. Paul areas and is eligible for a hybrid workplace arrangement in both of these locations.

Job duties:



  • Manage SA projects ensuring they achieve their intended targets, including leading the core project team, updating R&D management on project status, ensuring up-to-date project data, and guiding projects through Stage Gate reviews.
  • Develop and direct project management operations and strategic planning to meet organizational goals.
  • Provides overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery.
  • Enhance the professional growth and capabilities of R&D project managers through mentoring, training, and supervision.
  • Collaborate in the SA project planning process and contribute to defining R&D objectives, as well as monitoring and reporting on the achievement of these goals.
  • Assist in formulating the SA budget and maintain responsibility for writing and revising project management procedures.
  • Participate as an active member of the global project management team in developing new tools and methodologies for project planning and control.


Required qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in project management in a generic pharmaceutical company
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a leadership role
  • Certification in Project Management
  • Demonstrated strong ability to:

  • strong organizational skills
  • well-developed sense of responsibility
  • proficient in process management.


Preferred qualifications:



  • Advanced degree
  • knowledge of finance and portfolio selection
