Position Summary: The Senior Rebate Accountant, reporting to the Controller of Corporate Accounting, is primarily responsible for managing the accounting processes related to vendor rebates, including verifying tier eligibility, calculating rebate amounts, recording transactional activity in the general ledger, and ensuring timely collection of funds. Excellent initiative and communication/collaboration skills, and a solid accounting background are important to this position as are intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and Access. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Payment processing: Ensure all vendor rebates received from various sources are recorded into the accounting system by the rebate administrator in the appropriate period to the correct entity and any related accruals are reversed.
- Contract review and analysis: Thoroughly review vendor rebate contracts to understand eligibility criteria and calculation methods.
- Data validation: Analyze purchasing data and other relevant documents to ensure accuracy in rebate calculations.
- Calculate rebate accruals utilizing purchasing data and contractually specified rates.
- Accounting entries: Record rebate transactions accurately in the accounting system, inclusive of accruals.
- Rebate reconciliation: Reconcile calculated rebate amounts timely to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Problem solving: Solve complex problems, exercising sound business judgment to make recommendations based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Process Improvement: Analyze current processes and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with departments to implement more efficient and effective processes that lead to better outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration
- 5 years' experience in accounting
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience with data analysis
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 80% of the time.
