About Our Internship Program

The Graduate Intern position will expose graduate-level data science students to the departments within SCAN, as well as current industry practices. The intern will support the business on a variety of tasks, including fine-tuning of AI models and cloud software development activities, presenting finding and special projects.

As an IT Intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in:

AI AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - 50%

* Develop against, and implement, advanced AI models, focusing on Open AI family and exploring lower-cost alternatives that meet business needs.
* Utilize prompt engineering techniques to enhance model performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
* Deploy AI models into different environments and integrate AI solutions with existing systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compatibility.
* Develop testing strategies and frameworks to validate the correctness and robustness of AI systems through unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
* Explore and experiment with novel approaches in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), or automation.
* Leverage APIs effectively for integration purposes and develop custom APIs and plug-ins to extend functionality.
* Ensure AI systems comply with ethical guidelines, privacy regulations, and legal requirements, addressing concerns related to bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability.

COLLABORATION AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES - 20%

* Participate in strategic research discussions.
* Support project planning, execution and analyses.
* Assist in preparation of presentations.

CAPSTONE PROJECT - 30%

* Conducts a special project based on real-time business opportunities.

We're looking for candidates who have:

* Currently enrolled in MBA degree program: Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
* Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft models, and developing NLP solutions.
* Expertise with Microsoft Azure, especially Azure AI and Azure Machine Learning.
* Ability to develop and integrate APIs for AI solutions.
* Skilled in creating robust testing strategies for AI systems.
* Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact both inside and outside the organization.
* Committed to continuous improvement in a dynamic industry.
* Flexible and willing to handle an ever-changing work environment.
* Willingness to learn & A passion for healthcare.

Program Details:

* Program Duration: June to September (exact dates may vary).
* Location: Remote/hybrid, with potential opportunities to visit SCAN's headquarters in Long Beach.
* Compensation: Paid internship.
