You will design, develop, test, and integrate real-time weapon simulations for military training devices. This is a hands-on, full life cycle software engineering position for experienced software engineers who desire to grow beyond traditional boundaries and create enduring solutions for a truly meaningful purpose.

Affinity for aviation and flight skills not required - but this role will provide the opportunity for both!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and lead development of new weapons software projects

  • Develop dynamic weapon flight simulation models and integrate into flight training devices

  • Develop, debug, and test autopilot and guidance algorithms

  • Develop control laws to meet weapon performance, trajectory and stability requirements

  • Develop system and software requirements for GNC models

  • support requirement verification through test procedure development, lab testing and reporting

  • Perform trajectory design, optimization, and analysis for weapons

  • Design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools to perform weapon model GNC

  • Create analysis tools, applications, and execution pipelines for fast, reliable, and robust weapon models

  • Given weapon flight test and physical data, and documentation use MATLAB and analytical tools to model weapon performance

  • Provide leadership, mentorship and growth opportunities for junior weapons engineers

  • Utilize excellent communication skills to report program milestones, technical approaches, and findings to program management

  • Review existing tools and processes and drive more efficient or more reliable approaches

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) and 8+ years of relevant experience OR PhD with 6+ years of relevant engineering and/or lab experience

  • 8+ years professional experience in a GNC role, preferably for weapons systems

  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and detailed requirements.

  • Experience developing simplified 3-DOF and high-fidelity 6-DOF dynamics simulation models

  • Experience using MATLAB to create, process, analyze, and visually represent data

  • Clear communication and organizational skills including documentation and training material

  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD Secret clearance

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Preferred Skills

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing flight software algorithms for weapons systems

  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing Launch Acceptability Region (LAR), Weapon Engagement Zone (WEZ), or Dynamic Lauch Zone (DLZ) generation software

  • Experience with guidance functions and equations necessary to achieve a desired position, orientation, velocity, or trajectory

  • Experience with flight controls design and analysis for weapons systems

  • Experience with state estimation - Kalman filtering, sensor fusion, etc.

  • Experience with mission planning, waypoints and waypoint navigation

  • Experience creating aerodynamic and propulsion models

  • Experience with mission planning, waypoints and waypoint navigation

  • Strong competency in software development practices including testing and continuous integration

  • Experience with high performance computing systems

  • High-level of C/C++ Proficiency

  • Experience with Ada, FORTRAN, and/or Python and Linux OS

  • Experience with real-time simulation

  • Exposure to weaponeering concepts and equations

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

Highly collaborative closed room environment with open office space for unclassified tasks. Job duties include regular interaction with fixed base, full cockpit military aircraft simulators, and include the opportunity to learn to fly the aircraft simulation.
