About this role:

The Senior Director of Operational Excellence & Experience will be responsible for leading the flawless execution of world-class experiences across our global conference portfolio, with a focus on Food and Beverage, Onsite Staffing and C-Level Experiences. They will shape operational strategies and oversee high-touch delivery to achieve exceptional results.

This role requires a visionary leader with a passion for hospitality who can inspire teams, drive operational excellence, and foster a culture of innovation and accountability. Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the experience strategy, operating framework and partnerships required for our conference delivery teams to drive flawless execution and world-class experiences across our food and beverage, onsite staffing and C-level experience Centers of Excellence (COEs). Drive operational excellence and initiatives to optimize operational delivery and exceptional service quality.
  • Oversee the operational delivery of food and beverage, onsite staffing and C-level experiences onsite at our conferences in partnership with our COE leaders to ensure that they are aligned with the overarching strategy and deliver seamless, customer centric service throughout every interaction.
  • Clearly understand and translate the needs of our audience to create elevated and innovative experiences which are meaningful to our customers. Regularly evaluate local, national and international market trends, vendors and high-touch hospitality experiences to ensure that our conferences remain best in class.
  • Identify and leverage data-driven metrics to measure the success of projects and initiatives, creating a compelling storyline and presentation for senior leaders across the organization.
  • Ensure team is accountable and responsible for the expenses they manage and understand the financial impact of the decisions they make. Lead the team through the forecast and investment process ensuring recommendations align with the overall strategy for the conference.
  • Recruit, train and coach a team of agile, customer focused, operational experts. Inspire confidence and provide clear direction. Foster collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. Ensure that the team is following established best practices to plan and deliver flawless conference experiences. Build team infrastructure to scale and operate efficiently.
  • Build trusted partnerships with team members and leaders across the organization, leveraging in office time to connect with stakeholders, learn from your peers and keep a pulse on priorities across the teams.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and leaders across the logistics team to drive forward strategic changes, identify compelling solutions and ensure alignment to conference portfolio priorities.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelors degree with a focus on hospitality and/or events management preferred
  • Extensive senior management experience within high-tough hospitality or events (15+ years experience)
  • Experience overseeing complex operations or events
  • Demonstrated expertise in team management, with the ability to inspire and motivate in-person and remote staff
  • Proven budget management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to set operations strategy
  • Experience of working in a complex multi layered environment with multiple stakeholders

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 121,000 USD - 188,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
