Description Summary: This position will play a significant role investigating profit issues related to manufacturing locations, establishing the department budget, and monitoring performance against the approved budget. This person will also be responsible for providing administrative support to the Design Engineering staff and performing a wide range of functions in a timely manner consistent with corporate policy and legal guidelines. This position will support Design Engineering activities including but not limited to the following: administration of DE databases and drawing vaults, administration of department purchases, processing and distribution of department documentation, and other duties as assigned. This position exercises independent judgment routinely and operates within established guidelines. Job Responsibilities: Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Hitachi Astemo Americas site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company): Analyze, investigate, and report on the issues impacting profit at manufacturing sites. Create, analyze, and advise on the annual department budgets including the distribution of monthly budget reports. Employ cost-benefit analysis and review financial request related to engineering service fees between international sites. Evaluate and track all development expenses related to new launch programs. Administration of department databases, such as intellectual property, software maintenance, service contracts, or standards (internal and external). Administration of the drawing vault, including drawing related processes such as drawing registration, requests, and notifications. Recommend and assist the department with requisitions and corporate approvals including analysis of current budget availability. May also make recommendations for reduction opportunities. May advise and assist in the development, training, administration, and audit of Design Engineering processes and work standards (including engineering cost savings and supplier requests for engineering approvals). Ensure legal compliance in all responsible tasks within the department. Support all business objectives of the company by aligning their Design Engineering related activities with the organizational goals and objectives. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work with all levels of staff required. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information is required. Support the continuous improvement for the Design Engineering financial processes and procedures and updating the associated training materials. Responsible for following all quality policy standards. Qualifications: Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Education: Bachelor's degree in business/accounting or 5+ years of job specific experience Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities may be possible to perform the job duties as designated by area management. Working conditions: Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed.
