SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Performs technical mold making assignments to support the manufacture of molded parts.

Working with team members, the Machinist/Mold Maker produces replacement and new parts and mold components using Milling Machines, lathes, Grinders, EDM, and other related shop equipment. The Machinist/Mold Maker will work from 3D CAD models, blueprints, and moderately complex written or verbal instructions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

1. Produce new or replacement components on production equipment, molds, and test equipment with minimal guidance.

2. Use measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauge, etc.

3. Fabricate components for molds, tools, fixtures and prototype equipment, working from 3D CAD models, blueprints, and moderately complex written or verbal instructions with assistance team members as needed.

4. Maintain tool room cleanliness and keep equipment in good working condition.

5. Programming of CAM software.

6. Assist with the organization of material and supply item inventory.

7. Cleans and maintains molds used in the manufacture of molded parts.
8. Analyzes production and tooling to determine recommendations for spare parts that can be used to support the molding process.
9. Responsible for the development of a tracking system for spare parts and tracks spare components.
10. Analyzes production and tooling and builds spare parts to increase efficiency.
11. Performs minor repairs on molding tooling as directed.
12. Responsible for the development and ongoing administration of a production maintenance schedule/system for all tooling.
13. Trains others in the proper use of machine tools and tooling/component construction.
14. Coordinates tooling activities with off-site tooling sources.
15. Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with 3D CAD models and drawings.
  • Proficiency in using measurement instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to work with moderately complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience with CAM software programming.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team leaders and other team members.
  • Education equivalent to a High School Diploma with seven years of previous tooling experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
  • Knowledge of various tooling and testing equipment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
