Job Description Summary

#TeamAAM is searching for a Senior Product Engineer to join us at our Detroit Business Office located in Detroit, MI.

Join our Team and lead the planning, design, development, and release of hydraulic components for AAM's All-Wheel Drive (AWD), Torque Transfer Device (TTD), and eDrive units.

Job Description

  • Manage customer requirements during interface meetings; benchmark and maintain a record of potential risks with the product design.

  • Translates customer requirements into product specifications; ensure features and performance levels are properly comprehended in product specifications.

  • Lead component level engineering activities to meet product requirements and program timing defined by customer/systems engineering/application teams.

  • Develop product specifications for pumps, pistons, valves, heat exchangers and filters.

  • Manage Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) throughout development.

  • Support completion of ADVP&R per program timing. Perform CAE for concept designs. Submit requests for advanced CAE analysis.

  • Lead root cause analyses through Engineering Incident Reports (EIRs) and 8D problem-solving, establish and document corrective actions, lessons learned.

  • Perform oil pump, heat exchanger and filter sizing calculations based on packaging and oil flow and pressure requirements.

  • Design, develop, and release hydraulic components based on customer requirements and product specifications.

  • Understanding of flow rate, pressure requirements.

  • Conduct CAE analyses, oversee GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis, and 3D CAD design.

  • Develop and implement best practices for hydraulic component design.

  • Provide technical guidance to design, manufacturing, and testing teams.

  • Lead design reviews, customer and supplier meetings, management report-outs.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. (BSME preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive component design.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, CAD software, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience in component sizing and validation.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years experience in Driveline/Powertrain component design and development.
  • 3+ years experience in hydraulic system design.
