Avantor is looking for a Shift Distribution Supervisor to oversee a wide variety of distribution activities including receipt, storage, movement and delivery of manufacturing materials & supplies, and general business supplies & parcels. The Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining inventory and associated records, and may assist a higher level supervisor. This is a full-time position based out of our Solon, OH location. Work Schedule: M-F, 7am-4pm. What we're looking for:
- Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. College Degree preferred.
- Experience:
- 3+ years related experience; 1+ year leadership responsibility.
Certification(s): - Trainer certification is a plus.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Must be familiar and experienced with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
- Requires demonstrated skills in leadership, organization and communication.
- Understanding of warehousing operations.
- Familiarity with computer systems, warehouse systems and computerized scanning equipment is a plus.
- Emphasis on safety is extremely important.
- Must be able to meet deadlines with tight scheduling requirements, and able to shift priorities easily.
How you will thrive and create an impact:
- Provide direct daily supervision of distribution associates to ensure the safe, clean and efficient operation of the warehouse.
- Develop and implement shipping work schedules and assignments to ensure efficient operation.
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching and disciplining employees.
- Complete and conduct performance reviews.
- Direct and supervise all outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion.
- Tour the warehouse regularly to answer questions, evaluate operations and solve problems.
- Make recommendations to the Mgr- Distribution and Material on programs to improve warehouse operations.
- Allocate equipment so that it is utilized in the most efficient manner.
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure that a sound maintenance program is implemented.
- Interact with other departmental management to achieve goals.
- Attend warehouse planning meetings.
- Ensure that all records and reports regarding warehouse activity are prepared on a timely basis and effectively maintained.
- Review operating goals and standards and monitor achievement.
- Review warehouse operations daily to ensure the warehouse is neat and well organized and that damage to product, equipment, and the facility is prevented.
- Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed.
- Operate in compliance with OSHA and other appropriate standards.
- Ensure proper stock rotation.
- Assist in conducting physical inventories and cycle counts as required.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the operational budget as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Working Conditions and Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate works near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The job requires working in heights, exposure to changes in temperature, driving equipment, and maybe exposed to dust, fumes, or gases.
The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift/carry/push or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement operating foots controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
