Position Summary

The Bilingual Interpreter / Training Coordinator in a manufacturing setting will facilitate communication between non-English speaking employees and management, ensuring accurate and effective exchange of information. The Interpreter / Training Coordinator will translate verbal and written communications related to manufacturing processes, safety protocols, training sessions, and other workplace communications. The goal is to bridge language barriers to promote efficiency, safety, and collaboration within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpretation:
    • Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation during meetings, training sessions, safety briefings, and other workplace interactions.
    • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between non-English speaking employees and English-speaking supervisors and management.
  • Translation:
    • Translate written documents such as safety protocols, work instructions, technical manuals, and company policies from English to the target language and vice versa.
    • Ensure translations are accurate and contextually appropriate for the manufacturing environment.
    • Assist in facilitating communication between English-speaking and non-English-speaking employees on the production floor.
    • Act as a liaison between management and non-English-speaking employees to ensure mutual understanding and effective communication.
    • Conduct language proficiency assessments for employees as needed.
  • Training Coordination:
    • Support training programs for manufacturing employees, including safety training, new hire orientation, and skills development.
    • Update training materials, manuals, and presentations.
    • Schedule and organize training sessions, ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are available.
    • Track and report on training outcomes, attendance, and employee progress.
    • Maintain training records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Employee Support:
    • Assist non-English speaking employees in understanding job expectations, safety procedures, and company policies.
    • Support HR and management in resolving any communication-related issues among staff.
  • Training Assistance:
    • Aid in the development and delivery of bilingual training materials and programs.
  • Support trainers in communicating technical and operational procedures to non-English speaking employees.
  • Cultural Mediation:
    • Help foster a culturally inclusive work environment by addressing cultural differences and facilitating understanding among diverse teams.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain records of translated documents and interpreted sessions.
    • Assist in the development of multilingual signage and labels within the manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Translation, Education, Interpretation, Linguistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as an Interpreter / Training Coordinator or translator in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and terminology is highly desirable.
    • Experience with training coordination, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Fluency in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
    • Excellent listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in translations.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.

Work Conditions

  • Environment:
    • The role primarily involves work within the manufacturing facility, including factory floors, training rooms, and offices.
    • Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends as required by training or interpreter needs.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to loud noises, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
