Position: Safety Coordinator
Location: Newport, TN
Pay: $30.62
Hours: Mon - Frid - 8AM - 5PM (requires flexibility to work off shifts and some weekends)

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing and overseeing safety protocols and procedures. This role will be responsible for presentations to leadership, trend analysis and use of Intelex system. This role involves conducting safety audits, training employees, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards. This role will be responsible for 3 plants within our industrial packaging division and have a scope of approximately 250 employees.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and enforce best safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Regularly inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
  • Conduct safety training sessions for employees to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare employees for potential emergencies.
  • Work closely with management and employees to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Additional Responsibilities as Assigned.

This position is in our Newport TN servicing paper mill and converting business units.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety coordinator or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Required to maintain OSHA 30 certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify potential hazards.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to implement corrective actions.
  • Experience in conducting safety training and education programs.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are preferred.
