The successful candidate will oversee the Massachusetts General Hospital Simches Zebrafish Facility. They will interface with laboratory members and Principal Investigators that use the facility and are responsible for the care of the zebrafish and maintenance of the facility.

Minimum degree and field of knowledge: BS/BA in related field of study

Years experience required: 1+ years experience working with Aquatic animals

Required Skills:

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field. Experience with aquatic animals, preferably fish, is preferred. Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work both individually and as part of a team, a willingness to learn, and a dedication to doing the best job possible. Some weekend flexibility will be required.

Duties:

  • Will oversee and maintain the zebrafish facility

  • Responsible for zebrafish care, feeding, health and husbandry

  • Maintain a continuous culture of Rotifers and Paramecium

  • Adhere to health and safety IACUC, as well as AAALAC standards and inspections.

  • Work includes cleaning, ordering supplies, and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure

  • Maintain excel database of all the fish tanks and racks.

  • Assists in performing laboratory tests, in interacting with Veterinarians, and in Investigator and Technician training in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act.
