In addition, faculty oversee the following clinical sections: anesthesia, clinical nutrition, pharmacology, and the radiology residency.
Essential Job Duties
The Peng Lab uses data-driven strategies to study the immune system and infection. The goal is to uncover underlying molecular mechanisms and to identify targets of intervention as well as biomarkers for clinical applications. We focus on computational analysis of high-throughput omics data combined with experimental validation. The Lab is housed in the College of Veterinary Medicine ( CVM) Research Building located at the NCSU Biomedical Centennial Campus and is part of NCSU Bioinformatics Research Center.
The incumbent of this position will develop and perform wet lab-based research in the lab with consistency and high efficiency. As a Senior Scientist the candidate will develop novel experimental protocols and customize existing workflows to address specific research needs independently. The candidate will work with PI on lab personnel and budget management and provide guidance and support to trainees and junior scientists as the Lab Manager.

The selected individual understands the rationale for the research and performs related experiments to test research hypotheses. The candidate will assist the development of research projects and hypotheses, interpret and evaluate data, compile experimental results and findings for publication. It is anticipated that the candidate will contribute preliminary data to research grant proposals and serve as a co-investigator and/or key personnel when appropriate. Research activities include independent management of research projects, experimental assay and protocol development, and designing and carrying out experiments.

This candidate will maintain animal and human cell lines, perform in vitro infections with human and animal pathogens, conduct high-throughput DNA and RNA sequencing using cell culture, animal model and human clinical samples, and high-throughput library screen in vitro. Occasionally some tasks may happen outside regular work hours.
