Overview
The DOT Compliance & Fleet Safety Manager is responsible for the company DOT (Department of Transportation) and Fleet Safety functions to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and the consistent application of established standards and processes. Location & Travel Details: The position is flexible, offering remote work options and can be based at any of our office locations. Travel requirement includes up to 25% to various sites across the United States. The Clean Energy & Infrastructure Group is comprised of the business sectors and companies: Industrial - Casey Industrial, MasTec Industrial, Phoenix Industrial; Infrastructure: American Civil Constructors West Coast, Cash Construction, FNF Construction, Lemartec Corporation, MasTec Civil, Precision Aggregate Products, Ragnar Benson Construction, Saiia, William Charles Construction, William Charles Electric; Renewables: Bianchi Electric, IEA Constructors, Wanzek Construction, White Construction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all DOT drivers and supervisors are trained in compliance with local, state and federal laws including maintaining proper operating licenses and current medical certifications
- Support safety staff who are responsible for monitoring and overseeing DOT activities our the company projects
- Provide on-site DOT Compliance training, Driver Safety and Operations training, and Post-Accident Process training
- Provide on-site Driver Road Tests in accordance with DOT mandated testing criteria and provide Road Test training for safety staff and project leadership
- Develop Fleet Policies and Safety / Post-Accident Procedures for all MNS Drivers and vehicles and ensure current versions are in placed in SharePoint
- Oversee Regional DOT functions to ensure all fleet vehicles are DOT compliant, meet Safety Standards, and are in compliance with Level 1, 2 and 3 inspections (Annual Certification)
- Ensures DOT DQ files, Drug files, Training files, Background Investigation files, HOS Logs, and DVIRs are up to date and compliant with DOT FMCSA regulations
- Reviews hours of service (HOS) for required employees in safety sensitive roles, including documented auditing of Log books or E-logs (EOBR) for any HOS violations as well as maintaining logs on file per DOT requirements.
- Verify logs are filled out properly and submitted in a timely manner, and retained for a period of six (6) months
- Reviews all DOT records and reports required by Federal and State CMV regulations
- Ensures Driver Qualification files are complete and updated as required by FMCSA rules and regulations. Ensures employment applications for Driver positions contain necessary information based upon Driver Classification
- Verify that vehicle inspections are being properly prepared and retained for a period of six (6) months and that the defects are resolved within an 8 hour period or in the alternative a problem resolution plan is activated
- Ensures DOT regulated maintenance files are kept current for preventative maintenance, oil changes, annual inspections, brake maintenance and repair, registrations, and insurance
- Monitor motor vehicle report (MVR) on all drivers on an continuous basis in SuperVision and perform annual driver evaluations and refresher training
- Monitor and manage CSA BASIC compliance tracking and rating scorecards for MNS vehicles and drivers. Conduct trend analyses to determine causation factors and take action via training and on-site meetings with crews and Mgmt. to develop action plans
- Conduct and support on-going internal DOT Audits at each location, using the latest DOT criteria
- Ensure Post-Accident Vehicle Investigations are being conducted and remedial training provided
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Associates degree preferred and/or combination of education and experience
- 5+ years relevant experience; supervisory experience preferred
- DOT Certified in 396 Vehicle Inspection and Certification (preferred)
- Class A CDL license (Must be current with Med Certification) (preferred)
- Working relationship with State and Federal DOT agencies (preferred)

- Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
- Effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
