DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Clerical Assistant 2 will meter mail, prepare specialized mailings, and serve as an additional knowledge resource concerning postal regulations for the distribution and metering units. You will operate an automated postage meter; prepare incoming mail to be metered by separating according to mail class, characteristics, and customer; and perform routine cleaning, adjustments, and minor repairs to the meter.
Additionally, you will enter postage entries into spreadsheets and data repositories as requested, run and download meter reports as required, and direct incoming mail to the proper production area. You will be responsible for identifying and inspecting the mail while adhering to postal specifications and stage mail correctly at the proper processing area. Other responsibilities include the delivery and pick up incoming and outgoing mail, products, including time-sensitive and confidential items, for various agencies served by Publications, adhering to predetermined schedules and LEAN practices, and ensuring deliveries are accurate, timely, and follow the most direct routes using state-provided fleet vehicles.
You will be responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and refueling state-providing fleet vehicles, ensuring they are kept in good condition. You will also coordinate necessary services and inspections with management and service providers, along with other duties as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Two positions to be filled from this posting
- Work hours are:
- 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch OR
- 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $34,621 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Previous experience handling mail.
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment.
- Previous experience using mail metering equipment.
- Previous experience as a courier or route driver.
- Previous experience performing quality control.
