Band Assistant - Percussion Focus Department Name: Fine Arts Department Position Reports To: Dr. Johnathan Robinson, Band and Orchestra Faculty Classification: Exempt, Stipended Job Status: Part Time (~ 8 hours/week), 9.5 Month Schedule from early August through mid-May Hours: Classes rotate on a block schedule. Work hours are approximately 1.5 hours per day, between the hours of 8:00 and 1:00, depending on the day. Some flexibility in scheduling is available. Compensation: This position will be paid via a stipend, over the school year from August through May. The proposed stipend for the school year is $6800, depending on experience. This is a part-time position during the school year only, and therefore is not considered eligible for benefits. Position Summary: Brophy College Preparatory, Arizona's only Catholic, Jesuit high school, seeks a Band Assistant for approximately 8 hours per week to support the Jazz and Concert Bands, with a specific focus on percussion instruction and logistics. The person in this position will assist the band director in developing the instrumental music program by providing percussion section support, rehearsal preparation, and concert logistics. Responsibilities include coaching percussion students, setting up and maintaining percussion instruments, organizing sheet music, and ensuring smooth transitions during rehearsals and performances. The Band Assistant will also help coordinate percussion needs for concerts, performances, and festivals, ensuring equipment is properly set up, maintained, and transported as needed.
