Position Title: Human Resources Generalist Location of Position: United States -- Wisconsin -- Sturgeon Bay Business Group: Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding Department: Human Resources Position Type: Full-Time; Permanent; Exempt Reports To: Human Resources & Labor Relations Manager Position Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the Human Resources & Labor Relations function at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by passionately pursuing innovative and effective safety solutions that focus primarily on employee well-being, manufacturing efficiency, and environmental awareness. The successful candidate will support both the permanent and temporary staffing needs of both office professionals and skilled trades' personnel. Detailed Description:
- Drives full-service recruitment process from creating requisitions to onboarding new hires and supplemental workers.
- Supports inquiries related to benefits, retirement and compensation to appropriate resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ensure all policies in the Office Employee Handbook are being adhered to.
- Choose appropriate training programs to help employees improve job skills.
- Assist employees in developing a career progression plan.
- Conduct semi-annual meetings with employees to ensure they are on the correct career progression path.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
- Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Takes the lead role in day-to-day labor relations activities which may include support for grievances, arbitrations as well as other labor disputes.
- Supports production management with the application and interpretation of the union contract.
- Ability to translate HR knowledge into valuable recommendations and solutions for stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to production management.
- Ensure all managers are meeting with their employees quarterly to create goals, assess goals and discuss accomplishment of goals.
- Represent Fincantieri Marine Group in community outreach programs.
- Prepares reports, presentations, business communications, data summaries, and other documents of both a recurring and non-recurring nature related to organizational staffing.
- Manages strategic coordination of all temporary staffing needs.
- Manages vendors relevant to production staffing needs.
- Performs simple to moderately complex analyses of data to draw inferences or conclusions.
- Helps develop and institute HR best practices of the department's procedures and processes.
- Assists with HR projects as assigned.
- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree with 5 years' of HR and/or Labor Management Experience or
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years' experience in an HR position
- Demonstrates professional, customer-service orientated conduct
- Good track record of being a team player
- Strong attention to detail, time management and communication
- Displays ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality
- Broad based knowledge in all facets of Human Resources Management
Desired Qualifications:
- aPHR, PHR or sPHR Certification
- Bilingual (Spanish) language skills (oral & written)
