The Assembly Team Lead will perform difficult electronic or mechanical production tasks in a Production or R&D environment where a high degree of versatility and skills is essential. Position involves the production of systems, equipment, or complex devices. May work in the absence of established procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs difficult electronic or mechanical assembly operations in production or in an R&D environment where a high degree of versatility and skill is essential, occasionally in the absence of established procedures.
- Performs most tasks required in the electronic or mechanical assembly process, such as crimping, potting, soldering, leak checking, exhaust, etc., in order to take a product from the initial stages through final assembly.
- Performs tasks and operates with premium skills, utilizing necessary tools and equipment in assigned areas, ensuring maximum product quality on most non-routine and complex electronic or mechanical assemblies.
- Exercises a high degree of skill in the sequencing of work and the operation of equipment.
- May construct pilot, prototype, or a limited number of products from blueprints, schematics, or verbal instruction, working with design/production engineers.
- May assist in the determination of work sequence and in improving methods of assembly,
adjustment techniques, or in selection of tools and fixtures. - Reads, understands, and can apply manufacturing specifications, engineering drawings and sketches, operation and finish schedules, flow charts, and diagrams as required.
- May perform the assembly of equipment, alignment of components, adjustment and calibration of the electro/mechanical portions of most complex equipment
May assist in training lower-level assemblers in assembly techniques and processes Performs other related duties as assigned. - This job has no personnel supervisory responsibilities (approving time-off, performance reviews, etc)
- Coordinates with Production Manager to maintain task priority, efficiency, and effectiveness of the individuals in the assembly team.
- May direct assigned work of a team of assemblers

- May be identified as the primary touch-point for internal and external department communications.

WORKING CONDITIONS This position works in a production environment with the risk of injury so some safety equipment must be worn when working with equipment in the shop. Bending, lifting and pushing up to SO pounds (with assistance) is required. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 4 years related assembly experience. Must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and tools, with understanding of assembly theory.
