Overview

R&P Technologies is looking for an experienced Composite Technician IV to fill a full-time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and lay up onboard US Navy ships in Pascagoula, MS. Proven technical skills and waterfront specialist. Provide training to Technician Level III, II and I personnel. They are responsible for ensuring all composite production meets the expectations of the Composite Superintendent, and that all work performed will be in accordance with ship specification requirements while complying with all OSHA, Navy, shipyard, and R&P safety policies and procedures. Oversees the execution of shipboard installations to include, but not limited to composite manufacturing/outfitting/installation, RAM repair and installation. They will demonstrate and maintain effective leadership qualities and provide any and all guidance required by junior personnel to accomplish their tasks. Work with their personnel to deconflict issues that may arise during task completion.



Responsibilities

    Oversee the daily production plans as identified by the Composite Superintendent and customer requirements.
  • Manage/Oversee surface preparation and composite lamination/infusion/installation of various laminates/RAM tile(s) systems.
  • Assist with material research, purchase requests, job planning and material receipt.
  • Assist shipboard leads in the creation and maintenance of QA binders, POA&Ms, Test and Inspection Plans (TIPs) and daily/weekly/monthly reports to customers and Operations Managers.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and electronic)
  • Coordinate with other Lead Technicians, Operations Managers and Superintendents for personnel assignments and job completion across multiple tasks.
  • Assist shipboard task leads in shipboard installations and identify hazards and malfunctions. Repair/replace damaged equipment when needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all personnel adhere to the company's QMS and Safety programs for assigned tasking.
  • Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout procedures are being followed by junior personnel.
  • Provide training for assigned personnel, to include filling out QA forms, organization, and other trainings deemed applicable for the growth of assigned personnel.
  • Provide insight and feedback for training of assigned shipboard personnel. This includes training with RAM, various composite certifications, filling out QA forms, organization, and other training deemed applicable for the growth of personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining the structure of S-Drive folders. This includes scanning and uploading of QA and shipboard documents to the assigned folder for tasks assigned to their personnel.
  • Responsible for assisting with biannual evaluations and scheduling PTO reports for their assigned shipboard personnel.
  • Be proactive in promoting team building, employee growth, and recognition.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat DC.


Qualifications

  • Must have structural and composite background with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience (technical education and/or verified work experience in other composite industy sectors may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)
  • Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Prior experience supervising other personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to use power, pneumatic and hand tools (e.g. grinders, saws, drills, impacts, etc.)
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Appropriate physical condition to work in a heavily industrial shipyard enviromnet. Work involves walking up/down multiple levels of ships, exposure to heat/humidity, rain, cold, etc...
  • Willingness to travel to various locations in support of assigned projects
  • Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to changes in shipyard delivery schedules and changes to Critical Path items.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
  • Shipyard competent person certification a plus
  • OSHA 10 - Maritime a plus
