The Department of Health Management and Policy ( HMP, hmp.charlotte.edu) mission is to advance health and health systems by developing knowledge and future leaders in management, policy, and research for the benefit of all. We are committed to excellence in research and teaching, to building a faculty and staff who prepare a workforce to competently serve all populations, and to extending educational opportunities to students from all backgrounds.
We offer a BS in Health Systems Management, a CAHME-accredited MHA program, and an MPH in Health Policy. We collaborate with the School for Data Science in the delivery of an MS in Health Informatics and Analytics.
HMP is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration ( AUPHA) with 12 full-time faculty serving over 600 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. We have extensive ties with local and regional health departments, health care systems, and other community partners.
HMP is housed in the College of Health and Human Services ( CHHS), which is approved to transition to CEPH-accredited School of Public Health status. CHHS (www.health.charlotte.edu) is a member of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health ( ASPPH). In addition to HMP, CHHS includes the Department of Applied Physiology, Health, and Clinical Sciences; the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health; the School of Nursing; and the School of Social Work.

Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This is a term-limited position with a two-year contract period. The successful candidate will teach in our BS in Health Systems Management, Master of Health Administration, and/or MPH in Health Policy; and contribute professional service to the institution, community, and discipline.

Candidates must have a master's degree in health administration or a closely related discipline by August 2025. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate levels across a variety of delivery modalities (on-campus, online synchronous, and online asynchronous). Candidates must present evidence of teaching excellence and experience with student mentoring. Knowledge of introductory and advanced concepts in health systems management and health administration is required.
Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Preferred candidates will be doctorally trained and have experience working in the healthcare industry. We are particularly interested in candidates with a health care background in human resources, accounting and finance, leadership, operational management, or quality assurance. The extent to which the candidate can contribute to the mission of the Department will be considered.
