SummaryDirects daily operation of the Housekeeping, Communications, Linen and MFB Inn programs to maintain the facilities in sanitary and orderly conditions. Establishes work methods and schedules. Performs hiring and discipline actions. Manages special project work schedules. Maintains sufficient inventory of supplies for staff. Accepts additional responsibility for special assignments and projects. Supervises weekend and evening schedules through Head Housekeeper, Lead and Assistant Lead contact persons.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Monitors daily operations and work procedures in accordance with the established policies of each area; handles service complaints for all departments.
  • Plans work schedules and assigns hours and areas of work to insure adequate service.
    • Maintains department records including time cards, work schedules, vacation schedules, requisitions, and other documentation as necessary.
    • Assists in managing related purchased service activities (grounds, snow removal, window cleaners, etc.) as they relate to department responsibilities.
    • Manages seasonal activities and programs.
    • Provides daily direction for Head Housekeeper, Lead and Assistant Lead in delegation of tasks.
    • Strong skill sets in conflict management.
    • Able to revise facility tasks through both area cleaning and team cleaning programs.
  • Provides regular training programs for all support services department and Inn employees including general department orientation, chemical safety training, cleaning procedures, and all department policies.
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of MFB facilities.
    • Conducts regular housekeeping quality inspections and rounds of all shift areas ensuring that quality control standards are maintained and recorded.
    • Recommends painting, repairs, furnishings, and relocation of equipment. Also, recommends reallocation of space to improve sanitation, appearance, and efficiency.
    • Assists and directs moving and arranging of furniture.
  • Maintains stock and equipment inventory including handling, processing, and requisitioning. Insures that adequate cleaning supplies and equipment are available for staff.
    • Investigates and tests new materials, equipment, procedures and techniques to improve operations.
    • Handles contacts with vendors.
    • Keeps chemical inventory file up to date.
    • Performs continuous chemical and equipment training to EVS staff.
  • Conducts staff meetings and meets with other departments to coordinate support services activities.
  • Assists in preparing of the department budget and establishing department policies.
  • Manages human resource related areas.
    • Conducts all housekeeping department and Inn performance evaluations and individual goal setting.
    • Recruits for open departmental positions through Hospital recruiting department utilizing behavioral based interview questions and techniques
    • Reviews applications, interviews, and recommends appointments to the Director of Facilities Services.
    • Completes all related paperwork.

Customer Service Responsibilities

Essential Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required, Associate or Bachelor's degree in business management related field preferred.
  • Strong management skills necessary to effectively supervise and train employees
  • Requires information management skills to communicate, explain, interpret, and present data.
  • Must have basic knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, able to create/modify spreadsheets, and documents.

Compensation based on experience, starting from $25.40.
