Job DescriptionAbout the Program Visa's Apprenticeship Program is designed for those with no prior experience interested in receiving hands-on IT training with an organization while also earning a salary. Global Operations Apprenticeship: This program combines classroom training, hands-on mentorship, and real-world projects to help launch a career as a Global Operations professional at Visa. Apprentices will begin with a 15-week bootcamp where they will receive full-time classroom-style education that will prepare them for On-the-Job Training (OJT). This period is officially known as Related Technical Instruction (RTI). During the RTI period, Apprentices will be contracted as employees of our Apprenticeship Provider, Apprenti. Upon successful completion of RTI, including satisfactory performance review, employment with Visa will begin. At the conclusion of the year of OJT, those who have successfully completed the program may have the opportunity to be considered for promotion to full-time employment. The Work itself: By applying for this position, your application is automatically considered across multiple teams, which include: GNOC - as a member of Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) team, your role is the in-shift detection, notification and escalation point for network issues. They have the primary responsibility for managing and responding to Network, Hardware and external client and circuit events which may result in impaired connectivity to our clients and internal business. You will be able to explore many latest technologies that support the Visa Operations, such as Cloud, SASI Network, many other Payment products, and services. Application Operations - as a member of the Visa Operations Command Center, (VOCC) monitoring critical production applications and resolving incidents promptly. You will participate in technical bridges, lead calls to resolution, and correlate critical alerts with system outages. The role involves assessing the impact of outages, prioritizing tasks, and enlisting support to prevent compromises to Visa's business or client service level agreements MIM - as a member of the Major Incident Management (MIM) team, your role is assisting in the response to significant disruptions, coordinating with various departments to ensure an efficient approach, and communicating clearly with stakeholders. You will be prioritizing actions to mitigate harm, allocate resources effectively, and oversee the recovery process to restore normal operations. Additionally, they document the incident and conduct post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future response strategies. During OJT, Apprentices will receive hands-on mentorship from leaders within one of the teams within our Global Operations organization at Visa, as well as career development workshops to develop professional and buildable skills. Work Hours: During the on-the-job training period, apprentices will be considered Hybrid employees. Hybrid employees can split their time between remote work and the office. In these roles, employees are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week, as determined by leadership or site requirements, with the general expectation of being in the office at least 50% of the time, based on business needs. Please note that upon completion of the on-the-job training (a one-year period immediately following related technical instruction), this role will transition to an Onsite - Flex position. In this capacity, employees will primarily work onsite in our Command Centers but may have the flexibility to work from home up to three times per month. The role also includes day shift work on a two-week rotation, with occasional weekend and public holiday shifts as scheduled. This apprenticeship is intended for individuals who want to learn and develop entry-level technical and professional skills in software engineering. QualificationsBasic Qualifications * 18 years or older * Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship * Have basic problem-solving skills/analytical mindset * Must be local and available to work in person in Ashburn, VA * Not currently enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree program in a related technical field (cybersecurity, software engineering, etc.) Additional Requirements Apprentices will need to provide their own computers during RTI period. The following tech specifications are required: * Windows 10 or macOS 10 * Windows Processor - non ARM type (Intel or AMD only - need for Adobe Connect to function) * RAM 8GB minimum (12GB - 16 GB recommended) * Solid State Drive - minimum 40 gigs free space * Webcam * Headset (Noise Cancelling Mic Headset preferred) * Internet connection at least 2Mb up/down * Dedicated workspace (Bootcamp will be 8+ hours at your desk daily) * 2nd monitor or XL monitor Additional InformationU.S. APPLICANTS ONLY:The estimated base salary during your remote training period will be $47,923 plus benefits and may progress to $61,000 upon successful completion of your training period, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
