Job Description
BIW Aftermarket Sales is a fast-paced dynamic environment which works to support the emergent needs of the surface combatants of the US Navy. In this Position you will be receiving requests to support quotes/proposals based on day-to-day activity within the US Naval fleet, as well as Navy Contractors, you will additionally:
Manage the BIW After Market Sales Program designated to support Fleet Services and Life Cycle Support Organization.
- Serve as a direct customer liaison with various waterfront customers, TYCOMs, Port Engineers, Ships Crew, and private industry.
- Manage vendor/customer requests, supporting all aspects of the companies 5 major pillars: Cost, Quality, Schedule, Safety, and People.
- Market strategy, planning, scheduling, technical requirements, resources, estimating, procurement, financial, and logistic issues, will all need to be addressed/considered when preparing quotes.
Support Professional Engineering Services (PES), Shipbuilder Special Studies (SSS), Planning Yard, and Life Cycle Services Projects on an ad hoc basis. Manage Emergent support to the Fleet (e.g. Engineering, Operations, Technical, Production, etc. Determine appropriate business opportunities for BIW to grow the business in Life Cycle Services. Assist various customers with identifying material and specifications for DDG-51 class ships. Identify material suppliers and obtain material costs and lead times. Work with various BIW fabrication shops to identify fabricated material requirements and fabrication labor hours. Identify and develop Statements Of Work and labor requirements for Technical Service requests. Place orders for, track, receive, and ship material. Develop cost proposals with labor, material, shipping, travel, and fee elements as necessary. Receive customer orders, review order terms and conditions, and negotiate as necessary. Work with Finance on invoicing, billing, and collections. Ensure adherence to the BIW DOA, Policies, Procedures, and FAR/DFAR clauses. Process monthly financial reports and other status reports as requested.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor's degree in business, or a combination of education and commensurate experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with material requirements, purchasing, sales, and overhaul experience recommended.

- Experience with material sourcing, estimating, and/or contracts is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict and multiple priorities.
- Positive attitude towards a teaming environment and demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
- Demonstrated self-initiative to accomplish tasks and perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Enthusiasm for taking on new challenges and desire for follow-through and success.
- Proficiency with computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Excel, Power point, Word, Access).
- Experience in reading/understanding naval drawings or fabrication drawings is highly preferred.
- Proficiency or experience in various computer-based shipbuilder programs is also highly preferred.
