Role Description: Huitt-Zollars has a full-time opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineering (EIT) (Eng I) at our Austin, TX office. Project opportunities include roadway design, site design, rail/transit design, grading, drainage design, drainage studies, traffic control, permitting, utility design and relocations, construction document preparation, and post design construction phase services. Position responsibilities will incrementally increase over time and with experience.

Duties:

• Serve as an Engineer in Training providing technical support in the design and development of civil engineering projects such as roadway and transit geometric design, site design, grading, drainage, construction plans, specifications and estimates.
• Work and coordinate with professional engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Support in the completion of projects within client specifications, budgets, and schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of project reports including feasibility studies, implementation plans, engineering summary reports, and drainage impact analyses.
• Provide construction phase design support including review of shop drawings and performing field observations.

• Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the project team and office.
• Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
• Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assignments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
• EIT registration or ability to obtain within 1 year
• 0-3 years of experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft software
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented
• Experience in MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, a plus
• Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
• Ability to learn and willingness to assume increased responsibilities when presented

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
