The Human Services Department (HSD) seeks an experienced IT professional to join their team as a Human Services IT Systems Specialist!
Starting salary up to $58.58/hour ($122,263/year) plus a competitive total compensation package!* The Human Services IT Systems Specialist is a member of a collaborative technical support team that provides technical end-user desktop assistance to over 1000 employees, including Tier I & II support related to Microsoft 10/11 Windows computer systems, hardware, software, and LAN/WAN functions. They are responsible for coordinating and performing the configuration, installation, upgrade, and/or relocation of information system components throughout the Human Services Department, including computers, peripherals, software, and network related components. Additional responsibilities include:
- Supporting HSD users by troubleshooting and resolving problems within interconnected software and hardware systems
- Serving as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance
- Using industry-standard best practices to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues
- Creating and maintaining user accounts, directory structures, and security rights
- Maintaining the database inventory of workstations and associated equipment
- Developing and providing user training documentation for applications or systems supported by the IT business unit
- Documenting and managing knowledge base articles that provide solutions to common issues
- Assisting in the research and purchase of hardware and software components to meet division needs
- Collaborating with other IT team members to plan and implement various IT projects, including software installations, upgrades, and migrations
- Interacting with Information Technology Management System (ITSM) for incident response and service request related work
- Traveling between various HSD sites to support staff as needed
The ideal candidate will possess many of the following:
- Working knowledge of enterprise endpoint management and/or ITSM frameworks and change management best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Entra, Intune, and Windows operating environments
- The ability to research, analyze, and evaluate data to make recommendations and take corrective action
- Detailed knowledge of PC hardware and networking components with the ability to troubleshoot and identify root causes of technical issues
- The ability to balance multiple, competing priorities while responding to system users in a thorough, effective manner
- Self-motivation and the ability to effectively work in teams and independently
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to details with the ability to quickly retain complex information
- Training or certification in Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator (MS-102), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and/or Security+
- Knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Intune, BitLocker, Multi-Factor Authentication, IT Service Management, Asset Management, Knowledge Management, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity, and Cisco Finesse

This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list. Minimum Qualifications
-
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally this would include:
Experience: Two years of experience in developing and maintaining information technology systems in a multi-platform information systems environment, including at least one year of experience developing and/or modifying applications; AND
Education: The equivalent to completion of twelve semester or eighteen quarter units in information systems, computer science or closely related field.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
