Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Field and Data Lead to join our growing team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Bioenvironmental Engineering and Industrial Hygiene to oversee and execute environmental field sampling and data collection projects for our valued clients. You will be a key point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met with the highest level of professionalism and technical expertise. This position will be in support of the 711 Human Performance Wing's Airman Biosciences Division. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership:
- Lead and manage all aspects of environmental field sampling and data collection projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide regular updates on progress.
- Assemble and supervise project teams, assigning tasks and providing technical guidance to team members.
- Technical Expertise:
- Develop comprehensive sampling and analysis plans tailored to specific project requirements.
- Conduct field sampling using a variety of methods and equipment, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Oversee the analysis of collected data and interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Develop clear and concise Statements of Work (SOW) outlining project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Collaborate with the internal program management team to develop accurate cost estimates for projects.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality technical reports, including quick-look reports within 6 weeks of field measurements and comprehensive final reports upon project completion.
- Communicate project progress and findings effectively to both technical and programmatic leadership.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Occupational and Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- More than 10 years of experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience collecting data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques and procedures.
- Hands-on experience conducting field sampling and indoor air quality assessments.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
- Ability to guide and direct junior staff.
- Ability to prepare and present written and oral reports, manuscripts and proposals. Must maintain detailed and accurate records Skilled at use of Microsoft Outlook (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) required to produce documents, spreadsheets, briefings, and milestone/Gantt charts.
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in high-level/high-visibility settings.
- Ability to prepare appropriate briefing slides, technical reports, and journal articles as deliverables.
- Proven experience (15+ years) in conducting environmental field sampling and data collection.
- Strong understanding of relevant environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in using various field sampling equipment and data analysis software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $88,600-$145,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
