TITLE: Inventory Control Manager

REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Manager

DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain

STATUS: Full-Time, Regular, Exempt, Professional

WORK LOCATION(S): 1040 40th Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49508 and 801/901 Broadway Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for inventory control, including maintenance of accurate records and cycle count procedures. All cycle counters will report to this position.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage staff, including the selection, hiring and training of employees. Recommend salary increases and conduct performance reviews.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to drive inventory accuracy throughout the entire value stream.
  • Ensure that inventory accuracy is maintained, and routine cycle counts are performed.
  • Oversee the job assignments and activities of Inventory Control staff.
  • Executes daily inventory analysis; identifies and resolves discrepancies and problems.
  • Oversees stock item master, identifying incorrect descriptions and stock numbers.
  • Communicates with Purchasing and Planning Departments, as needed, regarding new items, changes of location, counts, etc.
  • Ensure annual inventory losses are minimized and meet budgetary goals.
  • Performs and assists with general maintenance and cleanup of the warehouse.
  • Operates as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, production management or related field.
  • 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment with comprehensive knowledge of inventory planning and material control.
  • 2+ years of management experience.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Thorough understanding of inventory policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office and manufacturing environment (as needed) that may include heat, humidity, dust, and noise.
  • Extended work hours periodically required.
  • Work requires occasional lifting, pulling, or carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Work frequently requires attention to details, with pressures related to meeting deadlines, scheduling requirements and simultaneous projects. Work is regularly affected by distracting influences such as people, telephone calls, etc.
