This role oversees the cleaning and maintenance of river barges, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and operational. The supervisor will lead cleaning crews, coordinate with other departments, and ensure all cleaning activities meet safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Supervise Cleaning Operations: Leading and supervising a team of barge cleaning staff, ensuring efficient and safe cleaning processes. Assigning daily tasks to cleaning crew members based on barge schedules and needs. Overseeing the removal of debris, sediment, and waste from barges, ensuring proper handling and disposal.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring strict adherence to Ingram policies and procedures, participating in regular facility and safety audits to uphold the highest standards. Ensuring cleaning operations adhere to environmental regulations and safety standards, including waste disposal and the use of environmentally friendly cleaning products.
- Quality Control: Inspecting barges post-cleaning to ensure they meet cleanliness, hygiene, and operational standards. Addressing any deficiencies or issues related to the cleaning process and ensure immediate corrective actions are taken.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinating with the operations and maintenance teams to ensure barge readiness before and after cleaning. Communicating with the barge cleaning manager regarding cleaning schedules, progress, issues, or delays. Handling any special cleaning requests, ensuring that barges are prepared for specific cargo requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in barge or vessel cleaning, marine operations, or related supervisory roles.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of job related experience required.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental policies, and best practices in marine cleaning.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and solve problems efficiently.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning duties and manage a team in potentially challenging or hazardous environments.
