Job Description

Think super-sized Lego building...Then picture moving up to 2,000 Lego barges in and out of the fleet on a monthly basis...You have now entered the world of Fleet Dispatch! This is a fast paced, high-impact, time sensitive environment.

Ingram Barge Company, the leading carrier on America's inland waterways, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a Burnside Dispatcher in the Burnside, LA office. This position will report to the Weber Operations Manager, Fleet Dispatch and responsible for safely and efficiently designing and expediting tows, coordinating the movement of barges in the fleet, scheduling staff, and coordinating vessel refueling. Successful Dispatchers are detail oriented and have strong organizational, logistical, and analytical skills. They can evaluate situations, make decisions quickly and move on to the next item on the agenda. The ideal candidate works well across teams, is willing to learn and grow, and exercises good judgment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Coordinating the efficient movement of barges in and out of the fleets
  • Assisting with the management of fleeting, crane and crew boat operations
  • Collaborating with internal and external departments
  • Assisting in the management of fleet barge capacity
  • Maintaining accurate data collection, entry, and reporting into production systems such as FMS, iLog, UTM, Towworks and People Soft, etc.
  • Handling customer billing in FMS (Fleet Management Software, towworks and UTM)
  • Customer, vendor, agent, surveyor and facility visits
  • Providing emergency coverage, when needed for the Gulf fleets.
  • Participating in local harbor groups
  • Interfacing with related government agencies as per IBCO policy and procedures
  • Updating and maintaining reports and systems of all aspects of burnside operation
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Industry knowledge preferred
  • Strong organizational, logistical, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Adaptable to changing situation
  • Ability to work flexible work hours to accommodate business needs
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
