About the Role:
As an Electrical Design Engineer in the Future Systems Advanced Products and Technology (APT) group, you shall execute design activities associated with new product ideation, design, development and capture lessons learned through the build and evaluation for defense applications. The Electrical Design Engineer will participate in multi-disciplined teams and will be responsible for designing electrical systems and
hardware units related to electrification of vehicle architectures and associated subsystems such as power electronics, electric motors, inverter/converter, and advanced batteries. This includes generating product hardware designs, schematics, leading the overall electrical hardware subsystem design, and product testing. The Electrical Design Engineer will work in an
Integrated Product Teams (IPT) with a spirit of creativity, innovation, quality and continuous improvement with a focus on researching, studying, designing and executing advanced concepts.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for This Role:
This APT Electrical Design Engineerrole is focused on the development of new concepts, technology research, special studies, and advanced product development for defense systems.
- Provide Electrical Engineering Design Ideation and Concepts for Future Systems design efforts related to new product development.
- Develop product designs that are related to defense systems and capabilities.
- Develop product designs related to hybrid electric vehicles and architectures, advanced power electronics and batteries for defense applications.
- Focus areas around electrical architecture designs, power studies, electrical system design, power electronics, Li-Ion Battery research and design, and firmware development.
- Research industry technologies, methods, best practices, and designs.
- Develop concepts and support the creation of solutions and testing throughout an iterative process to build a strong electrification capability at GDLS.
- Inform and assist future systems in selecting, acquiring and utilizing state of the art electric architectures.
- Support briefings for senior leadership at headquarters and in the Global markets.
- Metrics gathering and analysis.
- Designing, editing, proofing, fact checking.
- Use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
- Ensuring content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Sought:
- Will lead concept to production electrical hardware design including requirements analysis, electronic design, debug, test, and qualification.
- Responsible for leading the hardware development team consisting of other hardware engineers, mechanical engineers, software and firmware engineers.
- Design, develop, and test electronic hardware products, components, and subsystems.
- Create detailed electrical circuit designs, ICDs, and test plans.
- Develop electrical architecture and design for low and high voltage applications.
- Develop engineering design fixes and coordinate solutions.
- Lead the component selection, procurement, and oversight of prototype hardware builds.
- Will be the lead engineer for concurrent engineering reviews and trade studies on assigned projects.
- Perform technology research, feasibility assessments, and detailed hardware design requirements definition.
- Develop concepts to support advanced technology initiatives, proposals, and demonstrators.
- Ability to multi-task, meet or exceed deadlines, and build strong team relationship with members of the communications and strategy teams

Additional Information/Requirements
- Must hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year university or college with a discipline in Electrical Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in similar role.
- Experience in Hybrid or Electric Vehicle electrical system design including power electronics, drivetrains and battery / battery management design.
- Experience with analog and digital circuit design, including PCB design.
- Experience with single board computers and microcontrollers.
- Experience with FPGA design and simulation, VHDL.
- Experience with analog and digital video circuits.
- Experience with schematic capture software (e.g., Mentor Graphics DxDesigner/PADS, Altium, etc.).
- Ability to use engineering development and test tools.
- Familiarity with military standards and test requirements desired.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong multi-tasking skills.
- The candidate will need to have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Expertise with graphics software.
