Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description

The Advanced Technology of RAPID Division is seeking a Systems Design Engineer to develop the cutting-edge reticle inspection products. The candidate will be part of the team responsible for next generation system architecture definition, performance modeling, sub-system design, integration, and characterization of reticle inspection systems for semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

  • Define top level system specifications.
  • Investigate technology landscape.
  • Identify system architecture options, trade-offs, and drive down-selection process.
  • Build system performance model, error budget and top-down requirement.
  • Define sub-system function, interface, and requirement.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on technical simulation, bench validation, bottom-up specification, prototype development and system integration.
  • Define test methodology and technique.
  • Develop test plan, test fixture, spec validation and procedure.
  • Own system performance, system cost and development schedule.
  • Create and maintain systems documentation single source of truth.
  • Drive design reviews and manage execution.
  • Drive system performance improvement.
  • Drive system cost reduction.
  • Be the subject matter expert and provide support and response to complex system problem.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Plasma Physics, Laser Optics, Physical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or similar field, with minimum 5 years of EUV or relevant experience.
  • Expertise in laser produced plasma, kW-class high-power laser and high-power optics.
  • Expertise in data analytics and system modeling.
  • Hands-on skills on high power laser alignment, beam delivery design, wavefront sensing and correction, plasma metrology, process optimization and stabilization.
  • Experienced in leading development and engineering teams in semiconductor industry.
  • Experienced in automation, system integration in semiconductor industry.
  • Experienced in vacuum, mechanical, cryogenic, motion control, software systems and their interactions in sophisticated industrial equipment.
  • Demonstrate detail oriented and methodical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 5 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 12 years
