Job Summary

We are currently looking for a candidate to fill the roles of Materials Support Technician. This hybrid role is responsible for a variety of operational-critical activities. The primary responsibility will be the management of materials inventory and materials waste removal. This role will work in coordination with various departments to control and maintain materials and supplies to support production activities. The position is also responsible for following all waste-generating processes to ensure compliance.

Job Responsibilities

Materials Supply Crib



  • Manage and control supplies and materials in the main facility
  • Monitor, distribute, and maintain records for all shop materials and supplies.
  • Collaborate with corporate purchasing for various tasks including quotes, requisitions, approved supplier maintenance, alternative vendors, etc.
  • Work with quality to maintain material testing, certification of material status, the release of material to production, and other responsibilities pertaining to adhering to our quality procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to maintain inventory integrity, reduce cost, and ensure dual souring where possible.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping in Oracle with issues and receipts.
  • Input requisitions into Oracle to support facility purchases.


EHS



  • De-Ionized (DI) water systems

    • Manage and control supplies for system.
    • Perform visual inspections of the system.

  • Dust collectors and mist collectors

    • conduct weekly inspections including:

      • Check covers and duct work for signs of leakage.
      • Check compressed air pulse regulators and collection drums.
      • Check and document photohelic and magnehelic readings.
      • Communicate with supervisor when filters need changed.


  • Closed Loop Water Systems & Magnus Part Washer

    • Pump out and clean systems.
    • Replenish closed loop water system(s) as needed.

  • Environmental Emergency On-Site Response

    • Weekly inspections of emergency response equipment and materials.
    • Perform maintenance of emergency response equipment.
    • Respond to, clean-up/coordinate cleanup of environmental emergencies (as needed) with consultation of EHS Engineer/Manager.

  • Wastewater & Stormwater

    • Assist with all wastewater system operation, calibration, and sampling duties

  • Waste Stream Containers, Tank, & Storage Areas
  • Collect and transport all full waste stream containers in facility to their respective locations and replenish containers.
  • Perform and document inspections of all waste stream point of generation locations in facility
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment,
  • Candidate must be able to read and write in English.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience ordering and managing supplies in a business setting strongly desired.


Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to operate a computer using various Windows applications such as: Microsoft Word and Excel, Oracle, and specialty systems like RFMS. Good telephone and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, all written in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to maneuver mobile forklift to load and unload trucks. Follow all Howmet Branford mobile equipment safety policies.
  • Result driven and accountable for actions, work independently.
  • Views safety as a way of life. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Salary & Benefits



  • Compensation starts at $22.75/hr. and may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
  • External hires are eligible for a $1,000 sign on bonus.
