Pasadena, TX (ASG) - Industrial spec gas How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? Position Title: Chemical Operator (Blender)

This function requires strict adherence to safety, regulatory and quality procedures in the filling of high-pressure Specialty gas mixtures in addition to pure gas products utilizing gravimetric fill techniques and Acu Grav.
  • Performs all job assignments in a safe manner according to Airgas SOPs.

  • Performs all required pre-fill and post-fill inspections.

  • Blends multi-component specialty gas mixtures using bench top scales, floor scales and Acu Grav.

  • Performs routine maintenance on valves, scales, vacuum pumps and other blending equipment.

  • Ensure cylinder filling records are accurately maintained and that all required procedures are followed complying with local, state and federal regulations.

  • Complete necessary production steps in production system.

  • Loading and unloading pallets.

  • Stocking cylinders using forklift or hand truck.

  • Assist with inventory and general housekeeping

  • Able to perform nonconforming product problem solving.

  • Maintain neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.

  • Perform mathematical calculations.

  • Perform routine scale validation checks.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or the equivalent with previous cylinder handling experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the Company.

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions supplied in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle, feel, and operate cylinder valves, operate machinery, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
