Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Lead Conversion Technician will be responsible for driving operational efficiency and productivity within the conversion team, ensuring that breaker conversions, switchgear modifications, and other short-duration (8-32 hours) projects are organized, executed, and completed on schedule. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor and develop team members. The Lead Conversion Technician will also play a pivotal role in the growth of the department by aligning processes with project timelines, optimizing workflow, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage, guide, and oversee the Conversion Technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality workmanship, and adherence to company standards. Act as the primary point of contact for the team regarding job responsibilities and project execution
- Project Scheduling & Workflow Coordination: Plan and assign daily tasks for breaker conversions, switchgear modification projects, and other short-duration (8-32 hour) projects. Balance resources effectively to ensure timely completion of jobs while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Technical Oversight & Execution: Lead and participate in conversion and modification projects, ensuring that all work is performed accurately, efficiently, and meets engineering and safety specifications. Provide troubleshooting support and guidance as needed
- Training & Skill Development: Provide hands-on training and mentorship to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of team members. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team remains proficient in best practices and evolving technologies
- Time & Attendance Management: Monitor attendance, approve timecards, and manage overtime as necessary. Ensure team members adhere to schedules while optimizing labor efficiency
- Coverage & PTO Management: Approve paid time off (PTO) requests strategically to maintain adequate coverage and project continuity. Ensure at least two skilled team members are available at all times for critical operations
- Meeting Cadence: Attend a weekly meeting with your team to discuss challenges, action plans and key metrics along with a weekly UCE-2 meeting to stay aligned with organizational priorities and cross-departmental initiatives
- Performance Management & Accountability: Establish clear performance expectations, track productivity and quality, and provide regular feedback. Address performance issues proactively and collaborate with management on improvement plans when needed
