Key Responsibilities
- Measuring and Cutting Insulation: Measure and cut insulation materials (e.g., fiberglass, foam, cellulose, or mineral wool) to fit walls, pipes, ducts, or other surfaces using knives, saws, or shears.
- Abatement activities including asbestos, lead and additional hazardous materials- respirator use required
- Installing Insulation: Apply insulation to walls, ceilings, floors, pipes, or mechanical systems by stapling, taping, gluing, or mechanically fastening it in place.
- Sealing Joints and Gaps: Use caulk, tape, or weatherstripping to seal seams, joints, and gaps to prevent air leaks and improve energy efficiency.
- Fitting Protective Coverings: Install vapor barriers, protective jackets, or cladding over insulation, especially on pipes or equipment, to shield it from moisture, weather, or physical damage.
- Removing Old Insulation: Safely remove and dispose of old or damaged insulation materials, following environmental and safety regulations (e.g., handling asbestos if certified).
- Reading Blueprints: Interpret construction plans, schematics, or specifications to determine insulation requirements and placement.
- Other reasonable directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Education, Experience and Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
- Knowledge of insulation materials and ability to perform material takeoffs
- Demonstrates consistent/exemplary safety compliance.
- Displays solid understanding of means and methods of construction activities
- Demonstrates ability to perform craft labor activities/tasks at a semi-skilled to skilled level
- Must be able to work constructively in diverse teams including engineers, technicians, and non-technical personnel.
- 3 or more years related experience is preferred.
- Must receive a satisfactory pre-hire drug screen and background check.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
