POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Training and Development Director will play a crucial role in driving workforce readiness, career growth and operational success across multiple jobs sites and regions. The T&D Director will oversee and account for designing, implementing, and managing strategic training programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of our operational workforce. This role plays a critical part in developing leaders, improving workforce capabilities, and ensuring alignment with company goals, industry standards, and compliance requirements. The Director will lead a team focused on instructional design, curriculum development, and delivery of training programs that support career growth, safety, and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive training and development strategy that supports operational excellence, safety, and workforce readiness

  • Collaborate with Safety, Operations, HR and other stakeholders to identify skill gaps and training needs at all levels, from entry-level to early leadership

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve pre-apprenticeship programs, leadership development initiatives, and other workforce training programs

  • Align training programs with business goals, ensuring they enhance productivity, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations

  • Oversee the creation and delivery of high-quality training content using a blend of in-person, virtual, and on-the-job learning methodologies

  • Partner with the Enterprise Talent Development Department to ensure alignment on training and development programs for our leaders

  • Ensure the effectiveness of training programs by leveraging adult learning principles and instructional design best practices

  • Implement training solutions that support hourly workforce development, including field-based learning and hands-on technical skills training

  • Establish career pathways and development programs for hourly employees and frontline supervisors

  • Utilize Workday learning management systems (LMS) and digital tools to track training completion, measure effectiveness, and generate insights for improvement

  • Stay informed of emerging training technologies and industry best practices to continuously enhance training programs

  • Ensure all training programs comply with federal, state, and industry regulations, including OSHA and safety standards

  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure training effectiveness and ROI

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing training team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation

  • Work closely with Operations, HR, and other departments to align training initiatives with business objectives

  • Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships related to training and development

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, Training & Development, Human Resources or a related field. Master's degree preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in training and development, with a focus on operational workforce training

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a corporate or field-based training environment

  • Proven expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and adult learning methodologies

  • Strong understanding of training compliance requirements, particularly in the construction or energy sector

  • Experience implementing and managing learning management systems (LMS)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Certifications in training methodologies (e.g., CPLP, ATD, or similar)
