This role is based in Winter Park, Colorado, and is NOT available as a remote position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Marketing is a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for crafting and executing highly effective, innovative marketing strategies that support Winter Park Resort's overarching business objectives. This individual will lead a team of managers and indirect reports to elevate the resort's brand presence, attract new visitors, and drive revenue across all business segments. Areas of focus include brand advertising, digital marketing, lifestyle events, partnerships, and products and promotions to drive visitation and revenue for lodging, lift tickets, rentals, lessons, activities, food and beverage, and more. The Director of Marketing will collaborate across teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery of marketing initiatives.

This role reports to the Vice President of Marketing, Brand, and Communications and is instrumental in fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, belonging and accountability within the Marketing Department. Reporting to this role currently are: digital marketing manager, digital marketing specialists, events and partnerships manager and coordinators, marketing manager and specialist, and resort business marketing manager.

WAGE:

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resort's salary range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resort's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Salary pay range: $95,000 - $125,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP:
  • Participate in the annual resort business planning process, alongside resort executive leadership, and lead annual planning process for the marketing team.
  • Serve as a brand advocate, upholding Winter Park's brand standards and championing its evolution to resonate with diverse audiences. Develop and execute strategies to increase brand awareness, familiarity, and consideration, as well as execute brand research studies to measure effectiveness.
  • Provide thought leadership on marketing strategy, performance measurement, and brand advocacy.
  • Drive key strategic initiatives for the resort, serving in a versatile capacity to ensure successful planning, execution, and alignment with overall business goals.


MARKETING STRATEGY & EXECUTION:
  • Drive the development of comprehensive annual marketing plans that align with business objectives.
  • Develop and oversee seasonal marketing briefs to guide campaign strategy and execution for the marketing team and various agencies.
  • Oversee advertising and paid media campaigns for optimal impact and effectiveness.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of innovative promotional campaigns and product launches, leveraging consumer insights to inform decision-making.
  • Define and refine product positioning and promotional strategies to differentiate Winter Park's offerings in a competitive marketplace.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of innovative promotional campaigns and product launches, leveraging consumer insights and data to inform decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate, test, and scale new products and promotions that drive guest engagement and revenue.
  • Optimize marketing initiatives through regular reporting and analysis of business results, ensuring alignment with revenue and visitation goals.
  • Oversee website, ecommerce, CRM, app, and other digital channels to ensure effective strategy and execution of channels.
  • Partner with Creative and Content team leader and PR manager for seamless strategy and execution.


TEAM DEVELOPMENT:
  • Build and inspire a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to enhance team engagement and effectiveness.
  • Hiring, coaching, talent development, performance management of managers and indirect reports.


CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:
  • Work closely with Resort leadership, revenue management, and various operating business units to align marketing strategies with operational goals.
  • Collaborate with Alterra Mountain Company's shared services teams to leverage enterprise-level resources and insights.


BUDGET MANAGEMENT:
  • Create and manage the annual marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing ROI, with oversight from VP of Marketing. Including monthly finance reconciliation and adjustments.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, with a proven track record in leadership roles. 3+ years managing a team of direct reports.
  • Prior experience at the director level, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing multi-channel marketing strategies in a B2C industry. Hospitality, travel, outdoor recreation, or resort industries a plus.
  • Outdoor enthusiast with a love for the mountain lifestyle preferred. Candidates must be willing to relocate to the Winter Park area (in Grand County, CO). This is not available as a remote role.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or related comparable years of experience.
