Stanley Consultants is currently looking for a Lead Project Accountant for our Denver, CO (Centennial) or Muscatine, IA office.

Job Summary: The Lead Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to project managers and other stakeholders. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, project management, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Be Doing:



  • Understand, review, and interpret project financial reports, including variances, invoicing status, and accounts receivable to meet key performance metrics.
  • Regularly review project budget and work with Project Managers to ensure accuracy of total compensation, labor, and subconsultants.
  • Primary point of contact for Project Managers regarding financial status of the project, contract modifications, approvals, change orders & invoicing requirements
  • Ensure all financial data is accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare invoice submissions for Government and Private clients, with appropriate documentation.
  • Subject matter expert on key GAAP accounting and revenue recognition related issues.
  • Mentor project accountants, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Communicate financial information and insights to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Present financial reports and analysis in a clear and concise manner.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in project accounting.


Required Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience with project accounting or similar role, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role. A&E experience in project accounting a plus.
  • Skills: Understanding of ASC 606, Proficiency in MS Excel, Word & Outlook, Experience with Work Breakdown Structures a plus.


    Work Environment: Primarily office-based.

    Base Compensation: $73,200-95,000
