Research Scientist I

AIS has an opening for a Research Scientist I in Rome, NY! In this role, you'll join a team of researchers focusing on several state-of-the-art efforts spanning Large Language Models, Reinforcement Learning, Anomaly Detection, Natural Language Processing, Cognitive Science, and other Machine Learning concepts. Along with your research, you'll have the opportunity to propose and contribute to new ideas for which will help further R&D within the industry. This is a hybrid position working onsite 3 days per week.

What You'll Do:

* With support from senior staff and fellow research scientists, you'll conduct literature reviews, replicate results, and apply research in new and novel ways

* Develop in a containerized environment using tools like docker, git, and poetry

* Work collaboratively with other researchers and mentors within the team to help solve challenging machine learning problems

* Apply novel and theoretical techniques to assist with developing machine learning models and related supporting software

* In addition to R&D, you'll contribute to technical status reporting, deliverables, and research publications with support from senior technical staff

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Linguistics, or a related discipline and 0-1 years' experience in an engineering or scientific function, including research OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

* You have 0-1 years' experience with Python or equivalent scripting languages

* You have 0-1 years' experience in conducting research

* Familiarity with Git

Preferred Skillset:

* You have experience publishing your research in peer-reviewed conference proceedings or journals.

* You have a strong understanding of probability, statistics and linear algebra

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI within 12 months of hire

Travel Required: Up to 10%

US Salary Range: $88,174 - $124,185
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
