SCADA System Maintenance Technician II Are you a skilled technician with a passion for maintaining and optimizing critical infrastructure? We are seeking a SCADA System Maintenance Technician II to play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of APS' SCADA network.
You are responsible for:
- System Surveillance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily monitoring, diagnostics, and advanced troubleshooting of SCADA system issues and alarms to maintain high system availability.
- Performance Optimization: Work proactively with engineering teams to maximize system efficiency and reliability while identifying areas for improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all SCADA network operations meet regulatory standards and internal policies, maintaining accurate documentation and adherence to compliance requirements.
- Technical Support: Provide expert-level support for system maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements to sustain optimal network functionality.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance SCADA system performance, security, and resilience.

Minimum Requirements
SCADA System Maintenance Technician II
- Associates Degree in Technical Studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
- Proficient in electric and/or electronic theory, along with a general knowledge of math and science
- PLUS two (2) years progressively responsible experience demonstrating knowledge of data network infrastructure, networking, application integration, integration services and maintenance/support in a focused technical area
- Technical knowledge of multi-platform LAN/WAN distributed and/or mainframe systems
- Good analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service and communications skills, and knowledge of emerging technologies
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
- Knowledge of service offerings; customer service principles; various computer software applications, PCs, operating systems, and other computer-related technologies.
- Understanding of AC/DC theory and grounding practices.
- Fundamentals in internet protocols (IP), basic networking and Ethernet functionality
- Good working knowledge of business processes and the effective application of technology in the large enterprise work environment.
- Fitness for duty may be required during on-call assignment.
- Some emergency overtime may be required.
- Real time systems run in production 7x24 (7 days, 24 hours/day); therefore, 24 hour operations is required, this position may require shift work.
Major Accountabilities
1) Under direct supervision, perform construction, maintenance and repair work on RTU Transport systems, Resolve failures and impairments in a timely, effective and efficient manner
2) Provide day-to-day system surveillance and trouble-shooting of issues and alarms within APS SCADA Network, maximizing system performance, availability, maintain regulatory compliance and internal process
3) Perform technical evaluation of system issues and outages as they occur across statewide Energy Control system infrastructure
4) Conduct research to troubleshoot and resolve the issue or, depending upon complexity, escalates the issue to higher-level systems administrators and/or engineers
5) Researching and document various mitigation strategies, Knowledgebase (KBs), and must maintain current and thorough knowledge of Infrastructure, applications and business technologies and their significance to the utility operational environments
6) Review engineering design to ensure compliance with internal and external design standards.
7) Perform routine equipment maintenance and perform emergency repairs as needed or directed.
8) Installs new equipment, participates in shakedown testing, alignment, placing equipment into service, providing written and verbal reports, updating technical drawings, meeting in-service schedules
9) Track and report progress on assignments.
Provide information and/or produce reports to assist with project construction estimates, as well as damage assessment reports, repair actions and implementation results
10) Provide assistance to engineering personnel and manufacturer representatives in the evaluation and testing of new equipment, including the development/implementation of test procedures and/or the design and construction of specialized configurations
11) Produce reports and technical drawings for system documentation and maintain required recordkeeping.
12) Maintain full compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety policies, procedures and standards and perform all work in a safe manner
13) May perform basic system administration tasks such as minor network/communication system troubleshooting and repair and oversee third party leased services.
Infrastructure Operations services include all aspects of production application and operating systems support from initial design to retirement.
