Enterprise Architect - Core Utility Applications

Are you a strategic technology leader passionate about driving innovation in enterprise application architecture? We are seeking an Enterprise Architect - Core Utility Applications to shape the future of our technology landscape, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.


What You'll Do:

  • Lead enterprise application architecture strategy to support critical utility operations, including energy generation, transmission, distribution, and customer service.
  • Ensure architectural governance and alignment with key strategic initiatives, such as Fusion ERP, Customer Experience Transformation, and Grid Modernization.
  • Oversee core utility systems such as:

    • Energy Management Systems (EMS)
    • Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)
    • Customer Information Systems (CIS)
    • Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS)
    • Work and Asset Management Systems


  • Develop scalable, secure, and optimized application portfolios that align with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Collaborate with IT and business leaders to drive innovation, reduce complexity, and enhance system interoperability.
  • Establish and maintain governance processes to ensure technology investments deliver maximum value.

Minimum Requirements

Enterprise Architect - Core Applications & Utilities



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • PLUS ten (10+) years of experience in enterprise application architecture, with a focus on utilities or energy sector solutions.
  • Deep expertise in utility core applications like EMS, CC&B, ADMS, MDMS, Work Management Systems, and ERP.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns and cloud adoption strategies


Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications



  • Uses/integrates in-depth technical knowledge across one or more divisional areas or systems to improve technology planning and development
  • Requires mastery level knowledge of technical area typically obtained through advanced education and experience
  • Ability to develop information systems to deliver the business strategy; analyze emerging technologies and make appropriate recommendations; implement a process-based approach to meeting organizational goals; assess a broad range of information solutions and products; develop architecture designs

Major Accountabilities

  • Performs the most complex duties of the technical architecture positions and is thought of as an expert in solving architecture issues within and outside the organization
  • Define the enterprise application architecture strategy supporting utility operations and energy services.
  • Develop and enforce application design principles, frameworks, and technology standards, ensuring consistency and interoperability across systems.
  • Drive application rationalization and modernization initiatives to reduce technical debt and optimize system performance.
  • Provide architectural oversight for major application initiatives
  • Lead the development of reference architectures, solution blueprints, and integration strategies that support end-to-end business processes.
  • Actively participate in the Technology Review Board (TRB), providing strategic input on application technologies and deviations from standards.
  • Provides guidance to ensure applications meet enterprise non-functional requirements such as high availability, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide architectural leadership in application security and data privacy initiatives related to core utility systems.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI/ML, mobile platforms, and IoT as they apply to utilities and core applications.
  • Promote digital transformation in the utilities space through new technologies supporting grid modernization, customer engagement, and sustainability.
  • Manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-divisional teams
  • Participates in industry/knowledge reference groups
