DIVISION: Operations DEPARTMENT: Work Coordination UNION/GRADE: Unit 2/Grade 20 TO VIEW OUR BENEFITS PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK! - https://www.mwra.com/about-mwra/careers BASIC PURPOSE: Receives, plans, estimates, schedules and coordinates maintenance management system for Operations and Maintenance staff. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Work Coordination Center Manager. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives, plans, estimates, schedules and coordinates all maintenance work orders assigned.
- Coordinates staff, equipment, materials and facility operational availability in order to complete the necessary preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Ensures that the proper documentation of work performed is provided in accordance with standard policies and procedures for use with computerized maintenance management system.
- Coordinates with Operational Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, Warehouse Staff, Facilities Management, and other P&S Coordinators as appropriate to ensure efficient work planning. Coordinates with vendors, warehouse, purchasing and materials acquisition staff to ensure that the appropriate material is obtained for maintenance projects.
- Follows established safety, operating and emergency response procedures and policies as established by the MWRA.
- Completes field inspections, as appropriate, to coordinate project details with staff to ensure the maintenance work is completed. Periodically completes post maintenance inspections to verify work completion and quality.
- Prepares job plan and materials list for maintenance work utilizing computerized work management system.
- Plans assigned work orders by organizing them into tasks, developing the appropriate sequencing, determining the resources required and estimating the cost of direct labor and materials.
- Monitors work order back log, staffing requirements, staffing capabilities, and prepares work schedules.
- Attends daily and weekly scheduling coordination meetings with Work Coordination Center Manager, Maintenance and Operations Managers. Coordinates schedule based upon priorities and available staff and materials.
- Delivers work schedule to assigned managers and supervisors. Issues special instructions and considerations, reviews work completion status, and reviews job plans for future planning.
- Records, documents, and reports results in MAXIMO database of inspections and work performed.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Assists Engineering, Maintenance, Operational and Facilities Management staff, as appropriate, with preparation of preventive maintenance work orders.
- Creates special reports from the Maximo database as required by staff.
- Makes recommendations for ongoing system improvements.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:
- An Associates Degree in engineering or equivalent education; and
- At least six (6) years of related experience, of which two (2) must be in a supervisory capacity in the specific specialty area; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the maintenance, repair, and replacement of large operational equipment and systems within a large wastewater collections system or water transmission and distribution system.
- Ability to plan, organize, direct, train and assign duties to subordinates, as obtained through the successful completion of a supervisory training program or an approved substitution.
- Working knowledge of the methods and materials used by the various trades and shops at a level sufficient to plan maintenance work, estimate projects and specify parts and materials.
- Working knowledge of maintenance management and inventory control systems.
- Familiarity with personal computers and associated software programs desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Possession of a valid Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License or Grade II Water Distribution License, preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is very loud in field settings, moderately loud in pumping stations and moderately quiet in office settings.
