About The Position

The Engineer performs project engineering and project management duties in order to complete plans, designs, and cost estimates, related to the construction and operation of gas distribution facilities with emphasis on safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop engineering designs, cost estimates, and project management for gas distribution and related facilities including main replacements, relocations, and system reliability related projects. Plan, design, budget, engineer, and manage gas construction projects related to reliability for the gas distribution system.
  • Provide technical support to Gas Technical Supervisors, Distribution Design Supervisor, Field Engineering Representatives, Energy Services Specialists, the Gas Construction Supervisors, other departments, customers and other organizations.
  • As required, prepare bid packages and present information to contractors at bid meetings.
  • Provide assistance in engineering and design of gas extensions or modifications in response to customer service requests: determining the impact of additional loads on existing system.
  • Perform work within various company computer systems, such as DOJM, ArcGIS, Maximo, CSS, OAS
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of department and division goals. Identify and implement improvements in processes and operations to control costs and improve productivity.
  • Work with region team members to enhance safety, reliability, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in special projects or tasks, including responding to gas leak emergencies, as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (other engineering disciplines acceptable depending upon qualifications) from an accredited college or university required. E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) certification or P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration preferred. Two or more years of experience in the design and application of natural gas preferred, but will consider recent graduates.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and human relations skills; Good analytical skills, knowledge of GIS, mapping, drafting, and advanced computer skills; Being adaptable and flexible; Ability to work effectively as part of a team and also independently; and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$69,300.00 - $133,900.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
