Job Overview & Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Systems Test Engineer on theOperations Systems Engineering team at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL., main responsibilities include:




  • Develop test procedures and conductsystem testing and operation of the vehicle and ground systems from receipt of the vehicle through launch at our East and West Coast Launch sites.
  • Analyze test data including off-nominal data for accuracy.
  • Perform troubleshooting of vehicle and ground systems when anomalies occur.
  • Some testing may involve hazardous operations of systems including work at heights, confined spaces, ordnance, and propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics and pneumatics).

Bachelor

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Troubleshooting, problem-solving, rapid decision-making, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with fluid systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and small spaces.
  • This position will require working extended hours, weekends, and 2nd or 3rd shifts as necessary to support vehicle processing and launch.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Demonstrated strong team and project leadership with integration skills.
  • Proficient with leading technical teams.
  • Proficient with Propellant systems component assembly and testing.
  • Experience with Engineering Drawings utilizing CREO, NX and AutoCAD a plus.
  • Experience working in the Aerospace or commercial manufacturer industry.
  • Experience working with manufacturers and contractors of hydraulic and propellant systems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting system and component failures for quick resolution.

Additionally, most salaried ULA team members work a "9/80 schedule," meaning they enjoy every other Friday off.
