About the Role

The Primient Supply Chain is a lean, Six Sigma operation that acts as the lifeblood of our business. It is an exciting time to be part of a team that is driving continuous improvement built on proven best practice.

This role works in a high-performing Rail Operations team managing a fleet of railcars to ensure on-time delivery of raw material cars at our plants, availability of empty product cars for plant loading, and timely management of our barge freight, and river activity. This position is also responsible for communicating the railcar situation internally and car needs to the corn procurement merchandisers. The logistics analyst is responsible for managing the rail and barge fleet efficiency, given the changing environment with the railroads and rivers.

This will be a cross functional position with Primient sales, customer service, transportation, SOP planning, and corn procurement/grain elevator management. Reporting to the Manager, Rail Operations, with a dotted line to the Director of Grain procurement, and Director of Co-product sales, also works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the fleet is running efficiently. We currently utilize a hybrid work schedule, working three days per week in the office and two days per week from home. The position requires minimal travel of less than 5%.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be the super-user for Steelroads, Railtrac, SHIPPER BI, OTM and individual railroad websites, with knowledge of SAP, and Ag Tech (Freight only) to complete the daily reports.
  • Provide insights and tools to help understand different rail scenarios and ramifications to overall plant and grain hopper car performance.
  • Provide historical data and trend analysis to help improve transit times, and hopper car fleet analysis, including bad order cars.
  • Establish deep knowledge and understanding of the business transacted using the rail hopper fleet with customer base.
  • Manage corn train movements on a daily basis (at times this will include weekend train management)
  • Communicate daily or as needed with Plants / Prairie Line for corn movements
  • Trace railcars billed from plant to GRC for barge loading, schedule barge placements, releases, barge river movements, and facilitate any barge quality issues in the GULF with 3rd party provider
  • Maintain barge cost spreadsheet with barge freight, thru put, quality, switching, detention, reconditioning fees for month end accrual by finance
  • Enter the barge freight invoice in SAP for payment, triggering auto payment of thruput and quality payments for the barge
About You

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree or relevant wet mill industry experience, preferably in ag/accounting/finance/business, or a related field of study.

The ideal candidate should have an interest in co product sales roles or an expanded role in grain procurement/transportation in the future.

Experience:

  • Experience with SAP, Railtrac and Ag Tech processes is preferred.
  • Previous logistics and agriculture experience is appreciated, but not required.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Analytical data mining skills
  • Experience with SAP, Railtrac, Ag Tech
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft products, specifically Excel, and Office
  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of hopper car movements for co products and grain, preferred.
Total RewardsThe annual pay range estimated for this position is $57,558.40 - $71,948.00 and is bonus eligible.

During the interview process there will be an opportunity to discuss how your background fits into the pay range.
