What you'll do:

The AWS Database Engineer & QuickSight Specialist is responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing AWS Aurora MySQL and Amazon Redshift architectures, as well as developing and managing Amazon QuickSight reporting solutions. This role is crucial for supporting scalable, high-performance data processing and enabling data-driven decision-making across teams. The ideal candidate will have expertise in database architecture, administration, and Amazon QuickSight, with a focus on optimizing performance, ensuring high availability, and supporting self-service analytics.

Database Architecture & Optimization:

  • Design and optimize AWS Aurora MySQL and Amazon Redshift architectures to support scalable, high-performance data processing.

  • Implement efficient indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies to enhance performance.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations for Aurora and Redshift.
  • Manage data replication, backups, and failover strategies to prevent data loss and downtime

Database Administration & Security:

  • Oversee database monitoring, performance tuning, and maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Automate database deployments, schema migrations, and maintenance tasks using infrastructure as code principles.
  • Manage zero-ETL pipelines and real-time data streaming for seamless data integration.

Amazon QuickSight Reporting & BI Integration:

  • Develop and manage interactive dashboards and reports in Amazon QuickSight.
  • Implement real-time and scheduled reporting solutions.
  • Optimize dataset preparation, calculated fields, and visualization performance in QuickSight.
  • Integrate QuickSight with Aurora, Redshift, and S3 data sources for a unified reporting experience.
  • Build and maintain QuickSight CI/CD workflows to integrate QuickSight into release management cycles.

Scalability:

  • Implement scaling strategies for Aurora and Redshift to optimize resource usage.
  • Monitor query performance, concurrency limits, and workload management configurations to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure elastic scaling of Redshift clusters to accommodate workload fluctuations without excessive costs.

Cross-Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineering, data science, and product teams to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support self-service analytics for business users by optimizing QuickSight usability.

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years proven experience in database architecture, administration, and development with AWS Aurora and Amazon Redshift.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Expertise in Amazon QuickSight reporting and BI integration.
  • Strong knowledge of database optimization techniques, including indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools.
  • Proficiency in managing zero-ETL pipelines and real-time data streaming.
  • Strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery configurations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
