The Director of Procurement will have primary responsibility for the development and implementation of the vision, direction, and leadership of the company's overall procurement function. This role will have direct accountability for indirect, direct and third part spend and have ultimate responsibility developing sourcing strategies that leverage scale to maximize top and bottom-line growth and cash flow. They will lead the strategic purchasing / sourcing organization across the enterprise to drive key business strategies, cross-plant and BU (business segment) synergies, standardization, and minimize risks across the enterprise. Work / collaborate across key stakeholders to analyze market trends and identifying potential new vendors and suppliers is an essential function of this role, along with developing and maintaining existing vendor and supplier relationships. This role will report into the VP of Supply Chain.



  • Lead the organization, direction, and budgetary control of the department.
  • Develop sourcing strategies to support new product launches and supply base regionalization efforts. Utilize software tools to perform global searches for regional best-cost supply sources.
  • Overall responsibility for developing, communicating, and implementing procurement strategies for spend categories
  • Monitor and report on material inflation and develop strategies / containment projects to offset inflation.
  • Investigate all new material and supply developments, and make recommendations designed to improve quality, reduce cost and improve efficiency.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements with the appropriate commercial, legal, and risk considerations
  • Supervise and monitor the flow and cost of materials. Prepare management reports as requested.
  • Strategically oversee / manage procurement spend up to $100M across the enterprise
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings between sourcing, production, sales, and product development teams to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Continuously improve systems and processes to support standard work across the enterprise
  • Conduct negotiations and initiate supplier corrective action teams when necessary.
  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage the associated strategic sourcing team responsible for procurement of direct/indirect materials and finished goods at favorable total costs, while balancing quality, inventory, and customer service requirements.
  • Develop and Manage an efficient and effective Supplier Quality Development function.
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives that enhance the supply chain, improve product offerings, and strengthen supplier partnerships.
  • Responsible for planning, purchasing, expediting, logistics management, and supplier quality surveillance activities
  • Develop and perform upfront procurement planning activities, such as establishing purchasing and subcontract strategies
  • Create and manage project-specific templates, reports, and tools that align with project and company objectives
  • Work collaboratively with the project team during the procurement process, from identifying needs to supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to determine material and service requirements for various projects
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess market trends to ensure competitiveness
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules
  • Maintain and manage procurement documentation and records for transparency and audit purposes
  • Analyze procurement data and prepare reports for senior management to inform decision-making
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations throughout the procurement process
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers
  • Prepare purchasing master pro forma documents
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business Administration) is typically required, with a master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM) being a plus.
  • 10-15 years of experience in supply chain discipline, demonstrating a progression in management experience to the senior level.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, ideally in a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Analytical ability to stay abreast of economic trends, supply constraints and quality requirements. Must be able to analyze complex situations.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills; must be able to see projects through to successful implementation.
  • Knowledge of engineering and technical aspects of commodities.
  • Strategic negotiation skills to drive to acceptable alternatives that satisfy multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage through competing priorities to focus the team on the most impactful work.
