First Merchants Bank is seeking a Business Solutions Manager to join our team! The Business Solutions Manager will play a critical role in driving change across lines of business by ensuring effective prioritization, tracking, and delivery of initiatives across lines of business such as Consumer Banking, Small Business Banking, Commercial Banking, and Private Wealth. The position focuses on the accelerated execution of initiatives that transform and create value for our employees, clients, and other stakeholders. The most successful individuals in this role will develop an excellent understanding of the business domain and are typically superb "people persons" with exceptional communication skills. We seek someone with strong change management and communication abilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Demonstrated experience managing complex portfolios and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Support operational planning and execution of business initiatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and expected value realization.
  • Collaborate with segment leaders to define portfolio priorities, support project intake, strategic insights, progress updates, and issue resolutions to ensure alignment with business strategic objectives.
  • Drive cross-team collaboration and resolve cross-team impediments and other planning, collaboration, and coordination issues to ensure smooth transitions and adoption.
  • In conjunction with Risk and Compliance stakeholders, proactively identify and address regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to communication plans to address resistance and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Identify Business Process Improvements (BPI) and leverage best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our stakeholders.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on progress, be comfortable making adjustments, and change direction as needed to achieve the initiative's intended value.
  • Proven success in implementing change across lines of business by providing a view of initiatives to ensure changes are embedded across all aspects of the line of business - operationally, strategically, and through change and communications.
  • Proactively work with the project management team to manage and mitigate risks and issues by maintaining and communicating items on a RAID log.
  • Leverage storytelling and visual aids that are easily understood and motivational by utilizing data tools such as PowerBi, Snowflake, and Excel.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to assist with data-driven decisions.
  • Develop executive briefs and dashboards to help support teams make data-driven decisions and identify emerging risks.
  • Help mentor team members to excel in thought leadership and facilitation and foster a high-performing, future-ready team.
  • Acknowledge uncertainty and adapt to external (market) and internal changes by modifying plans and approaches. Use flexible principles to embrace change as opposed to constraining it.


To be successful in this position, we require the following:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, operations, or a related field, OR associate degree/ two years of college + two (2) years of related work/military experience OR four (4) years of related work/military experience (plus any additional required experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product, portfolio, process, operations, program management, or related roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, or related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build consensus with business partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to distill complex information into actionable insights.
  • Comfortable with presenting to and facilitating discussions with senior business leaders. Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills.


The following would be a plus:



  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, Agile (e.g., ScrumMaster, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in portfolio management tools and multiple methodologies (SDLC, Waterfall, Agile).
  • Financial segment experience.
