Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position $110k to $130k. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Who You'll Report To:

This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Managed Services and Information Security.

About the Role:

This position falls under the umbrella of Sawdey's Managed Services Division (MSD). Sawdey MSD is a full-service Managed Service Provider (MSP)/Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) providing IT and/or cybersecurity services to a variety of different clients (defense/government contractors, municipalities, non-profits, commercial organizations, etc.).

The Technical Engineer is responsible for the planning, designing, execution, and implementation of client projects and external IT solutions. This position requires someone with Tier 2 knowledge and capabilities and works with minimal supervision, particularly in areas that demand advanced technical skills. They will have a primary responsibility for project implementation, maintaining the design and integrity of client IT systems, and long-term client support. Additionally, this position acts as a key resource for managing and resolving client support escalations. It is essential for this team member to deliver outstanding customer service, expert problem solving, resolve problems promptly, ensure systems are highly available and reliable, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to the team.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

* Work directly with client POCs and client Senior Management on project planning, execution, and implementation.

* Develop implementation and migration plans that meet project goals and security requirements.

* Serve as the client POC and work independently to complete project tasks as efficiently and timely as possible.

* Proactively communicate with clients to inform them of project progress, impending changes, and agreed upon outages.

* Handle client support ticket escalations from Tier 0-2 service technicians.

* Perform remote troubleshooting using diagnostic techniques and tools asking pertinent questions.

* Provide detailed, professional notes and descriptions within all support ticket escalations.

* Create and distribute technical documentation outlining system architecture and implementation.

* Execute multiple types of Exchange migrations (e.g., hybrid, Office 365 tenant-to-tenant, hosted-to-cloud).

* Execute SharePoint migrations (on-premises-to-cloud, Office 365 tenant-to-tenant).

* Configure, troubleshoot, and support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive for Business, Intune, Entra Active Directory, and any other relevant applications.

* Manage and deploy Intune in support of meeting policy and compliance goals.

* Manage and deploy Windows Servers and associated applications

* Manage and deploy VMWare or Hyper-V environments

* Deliver weekly project updates to the IT Service Manager and/or Executive Director of Information Security and Managed Services depending on who is the assigned Project Manager.

* Stay current on new industry specific technologies as it relates to the position.

* Provide system administrator support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft's core business applications and operating systems.

* Assist end-users with questions and problems by working tickets submitted to the service desk via the ConnectWise Manage system.

* Communicate and collaborate with corporate employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional, respectful, and timely manner.

* May meet with current or prospective clients to assist in evaluating potential project work.

* May assist in working reactive, proactive, and Install, Move, Add, and Change (IMAC) service tickets as needed.

* Perform manual patching and vulnerability remediation as needed

* Understand and adhere to Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements and policies.

* May serve as a mentor to fellow Sawdey MSD team members.

* Participate in an on-call rotation.

* Perform other duties, as assigned.

Experience Requirements:

* Five (5) + years of IT-related experience.

* Three (3) + years of experience performing server and 365 migrations.

* Must have experience working with at least some of the following:

o Microsoft 365

o Azure IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Services

o Exchange Online

o SharePoint

o OneDrive

o Teams

o Microsoft Defender

o Windows Server

o VMWare

Education Requirements:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field preferred.

Certificate, License, and Registration Requirements:

* One or more of the following certifications are desired, but not required:

o Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)

o Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

o CompTIA A+

o CompTIA Network+

o CompTIA Security+

o Microsoft Certified Technology Associate (MTA)

o Microsoft Certified Solutions Administrator (MCSA)

o Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

o Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate

o Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate

o Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate

o Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate

o Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

* Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

* Must be able to communicate and collaborate with corporate employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional, respectful, and timely manner.

* Must have daily and accurate time entry accounting for all service and non-service tasks.

* Must be able to articulate technical information to non-technical people.

* Must be self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work with minimal direction and oversite.

* Must be able to pay very close attention to detail.

* Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation.

* Must be able to use personal smartphone device on an as-needed basis to perform job-related tasks such as supporting an on-call rotation, accessing Microsoft Teams and Outlook, and enabling/signing into multi-factor authentication (MFA) applications.

o Please Note: Incoming and Outgoing calls are made via an assigned extension in Microsoft Teams desktop. There is no requirement to use a personal smartphone device to support phone calls.

Background Check Requirements:

Must be able to pass a favorable Background Check.

US Citizenship Requirements:

To comply with CMMC requirements, as well as U.S. Government contracts, U.S. citizenship is required.
